January blues
January 28, 2025Gosh it’s been a wild and wet start to 2025 here in the UK. Wet days tend to force us indoors but this is something that we want to embrace. I always feel the need to create something in my studio when I can’t be in the great outdoors. Workshops provide me with the perfect opportunity to do just that. Throughout January I have welcomed some wonderfully creative people into my studio and I would love to showcase some of their work. When I’m working with other people I feel motivated and inspired. We often share ideas with some surprising results.
It’s always rewarding to share the art of Indian block printing with family and friends. The time passes very quickly when everyone is engrossed in their own project and everyone manages to produce a unique work of art.
Most of the workshops that I organise take place here in my own studio but I am very happy to visit people in their own homes in the Somerset area if they are planning a creative celebration with friends.
In my workshops I encourage participants to share ideas and am very happy for people to use aspects of my own designs. Here is an example of a beautiful price created by Val. This piece of fabric was used to wrap a gift, Furoshiki style.
Furoshiki is a unique way of wrapping gifts in a sustainable eco-friendly way. Any piece of fabric can be used to wrap gifts Furoshiki style but printing your own fabric just makes the gift extra special.
I am a credited Indian block printing tutor here in South Somerset, UK and am very happy to share my Indian block printing experience with others. The blocks that I use are all supplied by The Indian Block Print Co. in Oxfordshire and can be purchased direct from their website.
