February
February started with a lot of rain….and I mean a lot!! I remember a dear old friend and colleague referring to February as ‘February fill dyke’. He came from a farming background and was used to the fact the it rains a lot in February…so live with it. The problem is that the winter months seam so long. Wet and windy has now become the norm here in the UK but I imagine (from my friends reference) that February has always been wet. Longing for warmer days we look forward to the first snowdrop peaking through the soil and rush around viewing every garden that boasts ‘the best display of snowdrops’.

We didn’t need to travel too far to view some beautiful displays. Of all gardens, Margery Fish’s snowdrops at East Lambrook Manor is the place to be. The drifts of snowdrops, of all varieties, grow happily through the garden creating a scene of breathless beauty.
Thankfully the end of February was a little warmer. We even had a few days of sunshine…pure joy. The evening skies actually stayed clear enough for us to see the much talked about planetary line up , which was pretty spectacular, and apparently will not occur again until 2040.

I’m pleased to say that the bad weather did not dulled our creativity and enthusiasm for Indian block printing, and our workshops continued to be popular in spite of the wind and rain. The views are better from the studio on sunny days but we can also embrace the wet weather and actually rather enjoy being warm and cosy while the storm is raging outside.
We are in full swing with our Spring Indian block printing workshops. Currently I am running workshops Throughout the week on Mondays and Wednesdays at my studio here in South Somerset. If you are interested please do contact me at [email protected].
